Adult and Family Programs at the Farm
Learning on the farm isn’t just for kids!
Whether you’re looking to grow your own food, care for your own livestock, or craft using organic and natural materials, come explore our Adult Program offerings.
We started this latest effort with a series of workshops in fall 2022, including weaving with natural materials, wreath making, and flower pressing. The Suburban Farmer Workshop Series, aimed at folks looking to sustainably and regeneratively produce more from the land they live on, ran in Spring and Fall 2023, featuring a range of subjects.

Maple Sugaring season is the sweetest time of the year! If you’ve ever thought about collecting your own sap to make syrup or other products, this class is for you. Meet with NCOF Executive Director Casey as he takes you through the sugaring process, from choosing which trees are best for tapping to collecting sap and then boiling it down to syrup.
Please wear warm layers as we will likely take the group outside for part of the course.

Farmer Casey will teach this popular course again. Learn all about composting, soil composition, and how we prepare our land for the growing season ahead. You’ll take home knowledge of how to improve your own soil health at home.

Learn how to grow your own windowsill herbs and vegetables! We’ll discuss the best varieties to grow indoors, how to choose which windows work best, and tips for maintenance of your indoor farm! All participants will choose and plant several seedlings that we have started already for you.

Part of this class will so be dedicated to answering specific questions from students to be sure to bring your curiousity!

Livestock Manager Haley will teach all about how we take care of our chickens, and provide helpful information and answers for both current and hopeful backyard chicken farmers. We’ll cover housing, feeding, breeds, common medical issues, and more! Part of this course will be designated for student questions, so bring your curiousity!
