Volunteer
Volunteers power the farm! From single days of service to hundreds of hours over the course of an internship, we believe that everyone can be a productive contributor to the farm. Volunteer work is primarily farm chore-based and outdoors. So whether you’re looking to be in a beautiful setting, or enjoy meeting new people, or want to learn the principles behind organic farming, we have a robust and educational experience for you.
Days: Select Tuesday and/or Wednesday and/or Thursday.
Times: Select 9:00-12:00 and/or 1:30-4:30
Who: Individual high school and college students (age 18+), adults, business, religious, and community groups
Who Else? We are hosting a number of Saturday morning Teen volunteering sessions throughout the school year. Current dates can be found on our volunteer website, Point. Middle and high school groups under age 18+ may be hosted as a School Programs Volunteer Group.
When: Year round / Larger groups are welcome only in spring, summer, and fall
What: Outdoor farm chores! Farm chores change with the seasons and the day, so volunteers must have a flexible spirit and embrace new challenges. Some examples of seasonal work include:
- Seeding
- Transplanting
- Sap collection + boiling
- Light carpentry work
- Mucking animal stalls
- Harvesting
- Animal Care
- Weeding and cultivating
- Mulching and winterizing garden beds
Requirements: Volunteers should be able to bend, lift, carry heavy-ish items, handle small hand tools, follow multi-step directions, possess a can-do spirit, and maintain a cheerful and positive demeanor on our visitor-friendly, community farm.
Please note we will ask for a fee for corporate groups who would like to volunteer. Whilst groups are very welcome, these sessions take time to set up and manage. We do not want any group to be excluded by this request so we ask that corporate groups contact nicky@natickfarm.org to discuss this in more detail.
