Pre-School Programs

 

Got Milk? (Ages 3-5)
Come learn about our milking animals. Spend some time with our milking friends! Does chocolate milk really come from brown cows? Come see and taste what we can make with milk!
When:

Chore Time (Ages 3-5)
Come down to the Farm and wake the animals up. Help the Farm feed and water the animals and gather the eggs.

Little Hands in the Soil (Ages 3-5)
We are looking for little hands to help us harvest our crops and put the garden to bed.
When: Monday, September 19, 26, October 3 and 17

Meet the Farm Animals (Ages 3-5)
Meet our friendly Farm animals, cuddle a bunny, scratch a goat or hunt for eggs.
When: Tuesday, September 20, 27, and October 4
Time:
Session 1: 1 – 1:45 pm or Session 2: 2:00 – 2:45 pm
Fee: $34 NM/$27 M; 3 classes

 

Fall Crafts and Activities (Ages 3-5)
With your little fingers, transform bounties from the Farm into crafts to take home. From pumkin mania to making applesauce, from scarecrows to leaf crafts, we will be out and about on the Farm to discover and explore.

Hop With the Bunnies (Ages 3-5)
Spend time petting these warm, fuzzy little creatures. Learn how they live in the wild and how we care for them at home.

junior pond explorers Ages 3-5
Explore the waterways of the Farm and the creatures that call this aquatic world home. With dip net and magnifying glass in hand we will get a close-up view of some of the Farm's smalles critters.

School Age Programs

 

farming for home schoolers - ages 5 - 10
Throughout the 2011/2012 school year we will offer a morning for home schoolers at the Farm. Each Tuesday morning children will be involved in our every-day Farm operations, from animal chores to havesting to putting our gardens to bed. Over the course of the year children will get a deep insight into all aspects of work on a farm. This is a drop-off program.

When:
Semester 1 : Tuesday, September 6 - January 17 (19 days)

Semester 2 : Tuesday, January 24 - June 5 (18 days)

Time: 9:00– 11:00 a.m.
Fee: Semester 1 : $456 NM/$361 M

Semester 2 : $432 NM/$342 M

 

after-school farmers GradeS K - 4
Throughout the 2011/2012 school year we will offer an After-School Program for Elementary School Students. The program will involve students in our everyday Farm operations, from animals chores to harvest to putting our gardens to bed. Memorial students will be walked over from Memorial by Farm staff. Children can be registered for six-week sessions.

Youth Work Experience (Ages 11+)
We are inviting middle school students to join Farm staff after school to work in the gardens, take care of the animals and help with maintenance. This hands-on learning experience gives participants a chance to learn job skills.
When:
Tuesday afternoons (1) and/or
Wednesday afternoons (2) and/or
Thursday afternoons (3)
September 13 through November 17 (9 weeks)
Time: 3 – 5 pm
Fee: $216 NM/$171 M per day of the week

 

Got Milk? (Ages 5-8)
Let's visit the goats and our cow with calf. We'll milk our goats and find out about the many products we can turn it into.
When: Wednesday, September 14
Time: 3:30– 5 p.m.
Fee: $22 NM/$18 M; 1 class

 

Feed the Farm Animals (Ages 6-8)
Hands-on interaction during afternoon chore time as the animals are fed and watered, cuddled and put to bed for the night.
When:
Tuesday September 20, 27, and October 4
Time: 3:30– 4:30 pm
Fee: $45 NM/ $36 M; 3 classes

 

Barnyard Buddies (Ages 5-9)
Help wake up the farm with morning chores. Feeding, watering, and collecting eggs.
When: Saturdays. September 17, 24, October 1, 15, 22, 29 November 5 and/or 19
Time: 8:30– 10 am
Fee: $22 NM/$18 M; 1 class

 

Chickens and Turkeys (Ages 5-8)
Meet a chicken and greet a turkey. We learn what they really love to eat and feed them ourselves. Maybe if we're quiet, we can hold a chicken (turkeys will be too big). Then we'll hunt for eggs in the nesting boxes.
When: Wednesday, October 5
Time: 3:30– 4:30 pm
Fee: $15 NM/$12 M; 1 class

 

Farmer's Helper (Ages 8+)
Care for the livestock and help with the evening chores while feeding and securing the animals for the night.
When: Wednesday, October 12, 19 and 26
Time: 4:00– 5:00 pm
Fee: $45 NM/$36 M; 3 classes

 

Only Bunnies (Ages 5-9)
Not enough time to play with the bunnies on regular farm visits? Thinking about a rabbit for a pet? Here's your chance to hold care for and get all your questions about these furry creatures answered.
When: Wednesday, September 28 or November 2
Time: 3:15– 4:15 pm
Fee: $15 NM/$12 M; 1 class

Family Programs

 

TODDLER EXPLORERS
For those children too young to separate, come with your parent/caregiver for a fun exploration of the farm. Join us as we read a farm story, see the plants and animals, watch a goat being milked or touch a soft bunny. A wonderful first exploration of the Farm for children ages 1-3 years!
When:
Thursday, September 15, 22 or
November 3 and 10
Time: 10:30 - 11:30 am
Fee: $30 NM/$24 M; per family

 

A Farmer's Morning
Let's do it the farmer's way! First we will take care of the animals, feed and water them. We'll collect fresh eggs for breakfast, and then head inside for a hearty farm breakfast.
When:
Sunday, September 25 and/or October 2
Time: 9 – 10:30 am
Fee: $20/person. Children under 10 free. When registering, please note how many children are in your party.
